Hourly and live-in cases in both counties

We have new hourly and live-in cases to staff every week, and they're spread across two very different counties. In Somerset you might spend four hours with a woman in a townhouse, then drive a few miles to your next client.

In Hunterdon a single live-in case can be a farmhouse at the end of a long drive, where you're the one who makes lunch, drives her to the doctor and keeps her company through a February snowstorm.

Without a car, Somerset is the easier county to work in. NJ Transit trains reach several Somerset towns. Hunterdon is driving country, and most homes there are well away from a station. Tell us on the application whether you drive, and we'll only offer you cases you can get to.

A team that backs you up

Always Responsive Home Care is a family-owned home care company, and we treat our caregivers like family. As an RN-owned and operated company, we hold our care to standards above and beyond what the state requires. A registered nurse writes every client's care plan and supervises the caregivers who follow it, so when a client's condition changes on your shift, you call the office and someone helps you work it out. That support is why our caregivers stay.

If you already hold a CHHA or CNA certification, say so on the application. If you don't yet, the questions further down explain how New Jersey certifies home health aides. See the care we provide and the towns we serve.

What we ask of caregivers

  • A current, valid photo ID
  • The legal right to work in the United States
  • Experience caring for someone
  • A warm, patient way with people
  • A valid NJ CHHA certification

What kind of caregiver work does Always Responsive Home Care's Somerset & Hunterdon office have?

Our Somerset & Hunterdon office staffs hourly visits, overnight shifts and live-in cases. You choose the kind of work you want on the application.

What do I need to apply?

A current photo ID, the legal right to work in the United States, and experience caring for someone. The application also asks whether you hold an active certification, such as a New Jersey Certified Home Health Aide (NJ CHHA) or a CNA.

How does hiring work after I apply?

Our Somerset & Hunterdon office calls you to set up an interview. We check your references and run a background check, and orientation walks you through how we work. Then we match you with a client whose care fits your experience, and the office supports you from your first shift on.

How do I get paid?

You clock in and out of each visit on the KanTime app, and you're paid through Paychex. The office helps you set up both before your first shift.

Who do I call when something changes on a shift?

Call our Somerset & Hunterdon office at (609) 208-1111. Someone answers at any hour, including nights and weekends.

How do I ask for time off or more hours?

Call or text our Somerset & Hunterdon office as early as you can. The scheduler arranges coverage for your clients when you're off, and tells you about open cases near your home when you want more hours.

Do I need a car to work for your Somerset and Hunterdon office?

It depends where you want to work. Some Somerset cases are near an NJ Transit station. Most Hunterdon homes are a drive from any station, so a car opens up far more of our cases there. The application asks whether you drive, and we'll offer you cases you can reach.

How do I become a certified home health aide in New Jersey?

New Jersey's Board of Nursing certifies home health aides (CHHA). You complete 76 hours of approved training, 60 in the classroom and 16 hands-on, show the required skills, pass a written exam and pass a background check. The certification has to be renewed every two years. If you already hold a CHHA or a CNA, tell us on the application.
