Sarasota County is one of the oldest places in the United States. Nearly 39% of its roughly 480,000 residents are 65 or older — more than twice the national share — and the median age is about 57. That shapes what senior home care here has to look like. Roughly a quarter of the county’s seniors live alone, and about 27% of residents over 80 no longer hold a driver’s license, so the usual turning point is not a single crisis but the slow loss of transportation, cooking and safe overnight hours.
Our two most detailed local pages go deeper on the places we are asked about most: home care in Sarasota and home care in Venice.
Most families reach us within a few days of a hospital stay, so it helps to know how care flows through this county. Sarasota Memorial Hospital at 1700 S. Tamiami Trail is the 895-bed flagship of the public health system and the county’s only Level II trauma center. Its second campus, Sarasota Memorial Hospital—Venice, sits at 2600 Laurel Road East near I-75; it opened in November 2021 and now has 212 private suites and a 61-room emergency center that opened in December 2024. HCA Florida Sarasota Doctors Hospital, a 155-bed all-private-room facility at 5731 Bee Ridge Road, has served Sarasota and Manatee counties since 1967 and also runs a freestanding emergency room in Venice on the U.S. 41 Bypass.
After the hospital, many people spend a stretch in rehab — Sarasota Memorial’s Rehabilitation Pavilion on the Sarasota campus, or a skilled-nursing rehab such as the not-for-profit Pines of Sarasota on North Orange Avenue, which has been caring for the county’s older adults since 1948. The handoff back to the house is where readmissions are won or lost, and it is the moment our hospital-to-home care is built for: a caregiver there the first night, the bedroom cleared for a walker, medications sorted, and the seven- and fourteen-day follow-ups driven rather than missed.
Alongside private care, Sarasota County has a genuinely strong public network worth using: the Senior Friendship Centers at 1888 Brother Geenen Way and its licensed adult day program next door, Florida’s Elder Helpline at 1-800-96-ELDER, and the county’s Breeze Transit paratransit and on-demand services. We coordinate with all of them, and with any home health or hospice team already visiting.
Care here is rarely all-or-nothing. Most of our clients start with a few hours a week and add coverage as needs change — hourly care for mornings and errands, overnight care when nighttime falls become the worry, then live-in care or around-the-clock coverage. Alongside that we provide personal care, companion care, Alzheimer’s and dementia care, Parkinson’s care, mobility care and palliative care.
We are private-pay and non-medical: we accept private pay, secure EFT or credit card, and long-term care insurance, and we do not bill Medicare or Medicaid. There are no upfront payments, no deposits, no long-term contracts and no cancellation penalties — you pay only for care that has been delivered. See our payment options for the details.
Every caregiver is screened, background-checked, insured and trained, and our nurse-led leadership writes and keeps monitoring each care plan. It starts with a free in-home assessment: we sit down in the actual house, walk it for fall risks, and put a plan and an itemized estimate in writing before anything begins. Call (941) 870-2450 or send us a message and we will take it from there.

Testimonial: As the son of a client, I really appreciated how the caregivers took the time to chat with my dad about his favorite books—it made him feel truly seen and cared for.
