-
No large deposits
-
Nothing paid upfront. You pay only after care has been provided.
Simple Weekly Billing
Our billing week runs Monday through Sunday. Every Monday, we create your invoice for the care provided the week before and process your payment that same day. When Monday falls on a holiday, your payment is processed on the next business day.
Safe, Convenient Payment Options
-
Automatic weekly EFT from your bank account
-
Credit card (a processing fee applies)
Once your payment method is set up, there is nothing more you need to do each week.
No Hidden Fees
Every rate is listed on your consent forms before care begins, so there are never any surprises. Care provided on holidays is billed at time and a half. That's because we pay our caregivers time and a half for working those days, and we believe they deserve it.
Long-Term Care Insurance
We welcome every client who has long-term care insurance, and we make the process easy. Our team prepares and submits your claims every week at no additional charge. You pay for care directly, and your insurance company sends your reimbursement straight to you. Keeping it this way means your account stays clear and accurate, and you stay in full control of your benefits.
Reverse Mortgages
For many families, the house is the largest thing they own. A reverse mortgage lets a homeowner 62 or older turn part of the home's value into a lump sum, monthly payments or a line of credit, with nothing to repay while they live there. Because it works only while your loved one stays home, it's a natural fit for care at home. The money comes to your family, and you pay us directly, just as you would from savings.
Cashing Out a Life Insurance Policy
Many whole and universal life policies build cash value your loved one can borrow against or withdraw. Some also have a living benefit that pays part of the death benefit early when someone needs help with daily activities like bathing and dressing. Money taken out now comes off what beneficiaries receive later, so ask the insurer what the policy allows. Whatever the source, you pay us directly.
Medicare, Medicaid, and Other Insurance
Many families ask whether health insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, or VA benefits will pay for our services. Always Responsive Home Care is a private pay agency, and we are not a Medicare, Medicaid, or VA provider, so we do not participate with these programs. If one of them is the right fit for your family, we are happy to refer you to one of our preferred providers that does.
It also helps to know how coverage for home care usually works. Medicaid can cover home care for people who qualify, through agencies that are Medicaid providers. Medicare covers home health care, but that care is typically short term, often just two to three weeks. When it ends, many families find their loved one still needs support at home, and that's where private care like ours comes in.
For veterans and their surviving spouses, the VA Aid and Attendance benefit may help with the cost of care. We're happy to work with you to see whether you qualify, or we can refer you to a provider who helps families through the process.
Care That Works Within Your Budget
Every family's situation is different. Tell us what you can comfortably afford, and we will work with you to build a care plan that fits. Our goal is to help, and we will do everything we can to find a solution that gets your loved one the support they need.

(908) 691-3660 How does billing work?
Billing is weekly. Our billing week runs Monday through Sunday, and every Monday we create your invoice for the care provided the week before and process your payment that same day. When Monday falls on a holiday, your payment is processed on the next business day. Nothing is paid upfront: you pay only after care has been provided.
How can I pay for care?
By automatic weekly EFT from your bank account, or by credit card, which carries a processing fee. Once your payment method is set up, there is nothing more you need to do each week.
Do you require a deposit or a contract?
There are no long-term contracts and no large deposits, and nothing is paid upfront: you pay only after care has been provided. Schedules are flexible and built around your needs.
Do you charge more on holidays?
Yes. Care provided on holidays is billed at time and a half, because we pay our caregivers time and a half for working those days. Every rate is listed on your consent forms before care begins, so there are never any surprises.
Do you accept long-term care insurance?
Yes, and we make the process easy. Our team prepares and submits your claims every week at no additional charge. You pay for care directly, and your insurance company sends your reimbursement straight to you, so your account stays clear and you stay in full control of your benefits.
Can a reverse mortgage or life insurance help pay for home care?
Both can. A reverse mortgage lets a homeowner 62 or older turn part of the home's value into a lump sum, monthly payments or a line of credit, with nothing to repay while they live there, which makes it a natural fit for care at home. Many whole and universal life policies have cash value your loved one can borrow against or withdraw, and some pay part of the death benefit early when someone needs help with daily activities. Either way, the money comes to your family, and you pay us directly.
Does Medicare pay for home care?
Not for the care we provide. Always Responsive Home Care is a private pay agency and not a Medicare provider. Medicare covers home health care, but that care is typically short term, often just two to three weeks. When it ends, many families find their loved one still needs support at home, and that's where private care like ours comes in.
Do you accept Medicaid?
No. We're a private pay agency and not a Medicaid provider. Medicaid can cover home care for people who qualify, through agencies that are Medicaid providers, and we're happy to refer you to one of our preferred providers that does.
Can VA benefits help pay for home care?
They may. For veterans and their surviving spouses, the VA Aid and Attendance benefit may help with the cost of care. We're not a VA provider, but we're happy to work with you to see whether you qualify, or we can refer you to a provider who helps families through the process.
What if we're working with a tight budget?
Tell us what you can comfortably afford, and we will work with you to build a care plan that fits. Every family's situation is different, and we will do everything we can to find a solution that gets your loved one the support they need.
