One Small City, One ZIP Code: Neptune Beach 32266
ZIP 32266 and the City of Neptune Beach cover the same ground; in the Census Bureau’s 2020 geography their land areas match exactly. The city describes itself as about 2.5 square miles on the barrier island, with Atlantic Beach to the north and Jacksonville Beach to the south. It was once part of Jacksonville Beach. In the tax revolt of 1931, on August 11, its residents voted 113 to 31 to secede and incorporate, and when the rest of Duval County consolidated with Jacksonville in 1968, Neptune Beach kept its own government. That history still decides who does what for an older resident: the city runs its own police department and its own Senior Activity Center, while evacuation orders, public shelters and the special medical needs registry come from the City of Jacksonville. Our office is at Nocatee Town Center in Ponte Vedra, about half an hour south in free-flowing traffic, and the phone at (904) 204-2046 is answered around the clock. For the team and everything else we offer, start with home care across Ponte Vedra.
By the Census Bureau’s 2020–2024 American Community Survey estimates, 32266 is older than the county around it. The median age is 43.1, against 36.9 for Duval County. About 1,400 of its roughly 7,200 residents, one in five, are 65 or older, against 15.3% countywide; 29.4% of households include someone that age, and about 260 residents 65 and older live alone, an estimate with a wide margin of error in a ZIP this small. The median household income is about $119,000, against about $71,000 for the county. The houses are older than the county’s too: nearly two-thirds were built before 1980, and the median home dates to 1973, against 1986 countywide. Neptune Beach began as a place of summer cottages, about 70 of them by late 1931 by the Beaches Museum’s count, most owned by Jacksonville families. In an older house, a step down into the den, a tub you have to climb over or a bedroom up a flight of stairs can become a hazard after a fall or a hip replacement. Our free in-home assessment walks through the actual house before we write the care plan. Mobility care means a steady arm on the steps and between rooms, personal care covers bathing and dressing, and hourly care takes on the meals, laundry and errands of an ordinary week, a few hours at a time.

Home From Baptist Beaches, About Ten Minutes South
Baptist Medical Center Beaches, at 1350 13th Avenue South in Jacksonville Beach, is about 10 minutes’ drive south of Neptune Beach City Hall on First Street in free-flowing traffic. Baptist’s 2026 fact sheet for the hospital lists 146 beds and Primary Stroke Center certification, and among its services a cardiac rehab center, a center for joint replacement, wound care and palliative care, so the rehab sessions and follow-up visits after a stay there can be close to home as well. Mayo Clinic’s Jacksonville campus, at 4500 San Pablo Road, is about 14 minutes away across the Intracoastal Waterway, by way of Penman Road and Beach Boulevard.
A stay at either one can end with only a few hours’ warning, and the first days back are when a family most needs a second pair of hands. Our hospital-to-home care starts on discharge day: someone picks up the prescriptions, makes meals that follow the discharge instructions, helps your parent in and out of the shower, and drives to the first follow-up and to rehab. For the first nights, when a parent is unsteady and the bathroom is a long walk in the dark, overnight care puts someone awake in the house. When treatment turns to comfort, our palliative care support works alongside the medical team with bathing, meals, company and time off for the family. If the doctor orders home health nursing or therapy visits, our caregivers cover the hours in between. We are a non-medical, private-pay agency: we accept long-term care insurance, ask for no deposit or long-term contract, and don’t bill Medicare or Medicaid. There is a registered nurse on our staff.
Services offered in Neptune Beach, FL
Live-In Care
Live-in care provides seniors with the consistency of having the same dedicated caregiver daily, allowing them to build trust and familiarity in their care routine. This arrangement enables seniors who need assistance with most activities of daily living to remain comfortably at home, maintaining their independence while receiving comprehensive support from their live-in caregiver.
Hourly Care
Hourly care provides flexible, scheduled support for seniors in their homes. Caregivers visit for set periods, offering assistance with daily tasks, personal care, and companionship tailored to the client's specific needs and preferences. This service can range from short shifts a few days a week to full 24/7 around-the-clock care, accommodating a wide spectrum of care requirements and ensuring seniors receive the right level of support.
Overnight Care
Overnight care offers peace of mind with an awake caregiver present during nighttime hours. This service ensures assistance is available for nighttime needs, emergencies, or early morning routines, allowing clients needs to be met overnight, enabling family members or daytime caregivers to have uninterrupted sleep.
Always On Virtual Care
Always On Virtual Care pairs our caregivers with Sensi, an AI-powered audio sensor that detects falls, distress, early UTI signs, and other care events around the clock. Sensi alerts our team the moment something changes — so families gain a second set of eyes during the hours a caregiver isn't physically in the room, and seniors stay safer at home for longer.
The Senior Center on Forest Avenue, and Getting Around Without a Car
The City of Neptune Beach runs its own Senior Activity Center, at 2004 Forest Avenue, for people 55 and older at the Beaches and around Duval County, and says it serves more than 1,200 of them. Its October 2026 calendar shows the shape of a week there: sunrise Tai Chi, chair yogalates, strength and balance classes, gentle yoga, American mah jong and card games, line dancing, quilting, a Wednesday afternoon movie and a SHINE Medicare information session. Classes marked on the calendar are eligible for SilverSneakers and Renew Active, and taking part requires registering with the center. Beaches Town Center, where Atlantic Boulevard meets the ocean, sits on the line between Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach, with shops and restaurants along bricked walkways, and it hosts the Dancin’ in the Street festival, held for the 40th time in May 2026. City parking there is paid, but Neptune Beach and Atlantic Beach residents can get a free resident permit; it is worth registering your parent’s car if a caregiver will drive it there. For a parent who has stopped driving, companion care makes those outings regular again: the ride to Tai Chi, lunch at Town Center, the pharmacy and the grocery store.
Two ride services cover the Beaches. The Beaches Council on Aging, a nonprofit founded in 1975 with its office at 3410 3rd Street South in Jacksonville Beach, runs Dial-a-Ride for older adults and people with disabilities in the beach neighborhoods east of the Intracoastal, taking riders to medical appointments, grocery stores and social activities; it reports more than 1,000 rides a month, and the number is (904) 246-1477. JTA’s Connexion offers shared rides, booked at least a day ahead, to riders who qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act or the Transportation Disadvantaged program. For other services, from home-delivered meals to Medicare counseling, the place to start is the HelpLine of ElderSource, the state-designated Area Agency on Aging for Northeast Florida, Duval County included, at 1-888-242-4464. For a parent with memory loss, Alzheimer’s and dementia care keeps the days at home on a steady routine, and a caregiver can come along to a class or a lunch out. For the neighborhoods north of Town Center, see home care in Atlantic Beach.
Storm Season: Zone A and the Roads West
Neptune Beach is on a barrier island, between the ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. Duval County’s Zone A is typically the first told to evacuate, and when the Florida Times-Union described it in 2022, it took in most of Neptune Beach. For Hurricane Irma in 2017, Jacksonville’s mayor ordered mandatory evacuations of Zones A and B. Zones are assigned address by address, so look up your parent’s on the City of Jacksonville’s evacuation zone search at maps.coj.net/evsearch. Residents leaving the Beaches are routed west on Atlantic Boulevard, Beach Boulevard or J. Turner Butler Boulevard and on through downtown to I-10 West. For anyone without a ride out, JTA provides free transportation to open public shelters once an evacuation is ordered, on buses marked “Evacuation Shuttle” along regular routes or from four pick-up points, one of them Fletcher High School at 700 Seagate Avenue in Neptune Beach. JTA stops all service before a storm’s effects arrive, when sustained winds reach 35 mph or the city’s emergency operations center says so.
A parent who depends on oxygen or on electricity for life-supporting equipment, or who has a physical, medical, cognitive or sensory impairment and may need basic help from medical professionals, can join the Special Medical Needs Registry kept by the City of Jacksonville’s Emergency Preparedness Division, online or at (904) 255-3172. Registration has to be renewed every year, JTA’s rides to special medical needs shelters require it, and a caregiver or family member has to go along. JaxReady, the city’s emergency preparedness site, calls those shelters refuges of last resort, with basic nursing assistance, first aid, food and water. Electricity in Neptune Beach comes from Beaches Energy Services, the municipal utility based at Jacksonville Beach City Hall, which takes outage reports around the clock at (904) 247-6171. With live-in care, someone is already in the house when a watch is posted, charging phones and equipment batteries, packing medications and paperwork, and ready to leave on the first day of an order rather than the last. For families who live away, a few extra hourly care shifts after the storm put someone in the house to clear the steps, restock the refrigerator and see how your parent is managing.
