Which Ormond Beach This Is: The Mainland ZIP, 32174

ZIP 32174 is the Postal Service’s mainland Ormond Beach: downtown along Granada Boulevard and Beach Street on the west bank of the Halifax River, neighborhoods such as Tomoka Oaks and Ormond Green between the river and I-95, Breakaway Trails and Hunter’s Ridge west of the interstate, and Halifax Plantation and Plantation Bay to the north. The beachside across the river, Ormond-by-the-Sea included, has its own ZIP code, 32176, and is not part of our service area. By the Census Bureau’s 2020 relationship files, 32174 covers about 125 square miles of land, about 29% of it in Flagler County, and takes in about 93% of the City of Ormond Beach’s land along with unincorporated land and parts of the Daytona Beach and Bunnell city limits. Hunter’s Ridge is a 3,534-acre development spanning southern Flagler County and northwest Ormond Beach, with about 1,100 homes built so far. Plantation Bay, a golf community between US 1 and Old Dixie Highway, has about two-thirds of its land in Flagler County. Which side of the Flagler County line a house is on decides which senior services, buses and storm plans apply, so this page notes both. Our office is at Nocatee Town Center in Ponte Vedra, and the phone at (904) 204-2046 is answered around the clock; for the team, the services and how we work, start with Always Responsive Home Care of Ponte Vedra.

The Census Bureau’s 2020–2024 American Community Survey estimates describe an older ZIP code. The median age in 32174 is 56.6. About 19,200 of its roughly 54,800 residents, 35%, are 65 or older, and 53.9% of households include someone that age. About 2,000 residents are 85 or older, and about 5,100 people 65 and older live alone. In the same survey, roughly a third of residents 75 and older report serious difficulty walking or climbing stairs, an estimate with a wide margin. Those are the households where home care in Ormond Beach does its most ordinary work. Hourly care covers the meals, laundry and errands of a normal week a few hours at a time, and personal care takes over the bathing and dressing that have become the hardest part of the morning, so a parent who lives alone can keep living in the house they chose.

Coming Home From AdventHealth, Halifax Health or Palm Coast

Which hospital is closest depends on the neighborhood. AdventHealth Daytona Beach, at 301 Memorial Medical Parkway, is certified by DNV as a Comprehensive Stroke Center and has an inpatient rehabilitation unit; in free-flowing traffic it is about 7 minutes’ drive from Granada Boulevard at Nova Road and about 11 from Hunter’s Ridge. Halifax Health Medical Center of Daytona Beach, at 303 North Clyde Morris Boulevard, has what Halifax Health calls the area’s only Level II Trauma Center and houses the 52-bed Halifax Health | Brooks Rehabilitation inpatient rehabilitation unit; it is about 13 minutes from Granada and Nova and about 20 from Hunter’s Ridge. In November 2025 Halifax Health opened a freestanding emergency room with 26 exam rooms and on-site CT at Hand Avenue and Williamson Boulevard, inside ZIP 32174 though within Daytona Beach city limits, about 6 minutes from Granada and Nova. From Plantation Bay the nearest hospital is in Flagler County: AdventHealth Palm Coast, at 60 Memorial Medical Parkway, is about 11 to 16 minutes away, against 17 to 19 to AdventHealth Daytona Beach. It is a Joint Commission Primary Stroke Center and holds the American College of Emergency Physicians’ bronze accreditation as a geriatric emergency department. For the Flagler County side of our area, see home care in Palm Coast.

Whichever hospital it is, the first days home are when a family most needs another pair of hands. Our hospital-to-home care puts someone at the house on discharge day, picks up prescriptions on the way, cooks to the discharge instructions and gets your parent to the first follow-up visit. Outpatient therapy is close: Halifax Health | Brooks Rehabilitation runs a physical therapy clinic at 1180 West Granada Boulevard, and between sessions mobility care keeps up the walking a therapist asks for and puts a steady arm between the bed, the bathroom and the car. If a doctor orders home health nursing or therapy, our caregivers cover the hours in between. We are a non-medical, private-pay agency: we accept long-term care insurance and handle the claims, ask for no deposit or long-term contract, and don’t bill Medicare or Medicaid; our payment options page has the details. Care starts with a free in-home assessment and a written plan, and there is a registered nurse on our staff.

Always On Virtual Care

Always On Virtual Care

Always On Virtual Care pairs our caregivers with Sensi, an AI-powered audio sensor that detects falls, distress, early UTI signs, and other care events around the clock. Sensi alerts our team the moment something changes — so families gain a second set of eyes during the hours a caregiver isn't physically in the room, and seniors stay safer at home for longer.

Storm Season Where the Rivers and Creeks Rise

Hurricane season runs from June 1 to November 30, and on the Ormond Beach mainland much of the flooding comes up from the rivers and creeks. During Hurricane Ian in September 2022, the city’s public works director estimated that 15 to 20 percent of Ormond Beach streets had some flooding, mostly from high tides and high river and creek levels. Fleming Avenue, Wilmette Avenue and Tomoka Oaks flooded; the neighborhoods around the Ormond Beach Performing Arts Center took their worst water about 12 hours after the storm, when the next high tide came in from Strickland Creek; and west of I-95, Hunter’s Ridge and Breakaway Trails flooded too. The city’s preliminary count found fewer than 20 homes with water inside, and the director said “the immediate problem was the impassibility of the roads.” In October 2024, Hurricane Milton sent the lake at the Willow Pond 55+ apartments over Wilmette Avenue and left residents there without power, and one of the two storm-related deaths the city reported was a resident in respiratory distress whom first responders could not reach at the height of the storm, because the wind made it unsafe to try.

South of the Flagler County line, evacuations are ordered in three levels, A, BC and DE, according to the flooding expected, and residents of low-lying, flood-prone areas, including homes along river basins, are also told to leave; anyone in a mobile home must go at every level. Check your parent’s address on the interactive evacuation zone map from local emergency management, or, for the Flagler side of Hunter’s Ridge and Plantation Bay, on Flagler County’s potential hurricane evacuation zone map. Residents who need oxygen or have a physical, mental or sensory disability can register ahead for a special needs shelter, but those shelters are not for anyone who needs 24-hour dedicated care, a hospital bed or a ventilator, and a caregiver is expected to come along when that help is normally needed; Flagler residents register with Flagler County Emergency Management instead. During a declared evacuation, VoTran carries people to public shelters for free, and every bus stop becomes an assembly point. All of it is easier to settle in June than when a storm is in the forecast. With live-in care, someone is already in the house when a watch is posted, gathering medications and chargers, keeping meals and routines steady and helping your parent leave early if the order comes. When the worry is a night with the power out and the roads under water, overnight care puts someone awake in the house.

The Senior Center on Andrews Street, and Rides to Appointments

The Ormond Beach Senior Center, at 351 Andrews Street between Melrose and Wilmette Avenues just east of US 1, is open weekdays for cards, board games, bingo, dance, arts and crafts, movies and exercise, serves a weekday lunch for qualified seniors, and is the base for Ormond Beach Meals on Wheels. The council on aging that runs it also holds a monthly caregiver support group, and its own in-home help is free or carries a modest co-payment for seniors who qualify, as donations and grant funds allow. On the Flagler side, Flagler County Senior Services serves residents over 60. ElderSource, the state-designated Area Agency on Aging for both sides of the line, answers its HelpLine at 1-888-242-4464 on weekdays. A standing weekly trip to Andrews Street is the kind of routine companion care keeps going, and on the days in between, Alzheimer’s and dementia care at home holds the same rhythm.

Getting anywhere without a car depends on which side of the Flagler County line a house is on. VoTran’s VoRide vans serve Ormond Beach north of Granada Boulevard on demand, at $1 for riders 65 and older on trips up to five miles, but the service is curb to curb. For door-to-door help, VoAccess, formerly Votran Gold, serves people whose disability keeps them off the fixed-route bus: approval can take up to 21 days, a physician completes part of the application, and rides are booked at least a day ahead at $3.50 each way. Flagler County Public Transportation runs door-to-door rides for residents who apply and qualify, older adults among them, booked four to five days ahead, but it offers no trips out of the county, so it will not take someone from Hunter’s Ridge to a doctor in Daytona Beach. Our caregivers drive, wait through the appointment and bring notes home to the family. When an illness turns toward comfort care, Halifax Health’s Hospice Care Center at 235 Booth Road, built with artifacts from the historic Ormond Hotel, is staffed around the clock and also offers short respite stays; at home, our palliative care support adds non-medical help alongside the hospice or palliative team.
